The Buckingham Hotel is at the very heart of New York's Arts District, a neighborhood unlike any other in the world. It has for decades reverberated with great music, swooned with great dance and been inspired by great art. Today, the Arts District is even more vibrant than ever, and the Buckingham's guests have it all at their doorstep.

Carnegie Hall   Perhaps the most famous concert hall in the world, our neighbor across the street—Carnegie Hall offers the absolute finest in the musical arts on a nightly basis, from international symphonies to cabaret singers to renowned soloists. The Buckingham Hotel is a sponsor of Carnegie Hall's programming arts and was chosen by Carnegie Hall to celebrate the grand opening of its fabulous new theatre, Zankel Hall.

Let our concierge book your tickets to a performance at the famous Isaac Stern Auditorium, the jewel-like Weill Recital Hall or Zankel Hall.

Lincoln Center   This magnificent center for the performing arts—just a short stroll from the Buckingham Hotel—houses the Metropolitan and City Operas, Avery Fisher Hall, the New York Philharmonic, the New York City Ballet, Lincoln Center Jazz, the world-renowned Juilliard School, the Film Society of Lincoln Center, Mostly Mozart, cutting-edge theater at the Mitzi Newhouse and Vivian Beaumont Theaters and more still. Every night the choices are fabulous.

The American Museum of Natural History is a treasure trove of adventures and discoveries for all. The Rose Center for Earth and Space is the home of our world-famous space shows: Passport to the Universe, narrated by Tom Hanks and The Search for Life: Are We Alone?, narrated by Harrison Ford. Don't forget to visit our spectacular tri-plex retail space featuring merchandise from around the world.

You can also enjoy an IMAX Show and or any of the special exhibitions showing. Don't forget to visit to our famous Dinosaur Halls or our beloved 94-foot giant blue whale in the Hall of Ocean Life while you are here.

We are located at Central Park West and cover the entire block between 79th and 81st streets. There are three easy ways to get here from The Buckingham Hotel:

City Center   Just 2 blocks from the Buckingham Hotel is the famous City Center, home to such world-renowned performers as the Alvin Ailey Dance Company, the Gilbert & Sullivan Society, the Paul Taylor Dance Company and the popular Manhattan Theater Club's two stages. The fabulous Moorish architecture of the building is worth a visit in itself!

Radio City Music Hall Since opening in December 1932, this world-renowned entertainment temple has attracted more than 300 million visitors. One of the definitive New York landmarks, Radio City Music Hall was born out of a bold gamble by John D. Rockefeller and the Radio Corporation of America (owners of NBC radio and RKO studios) who believed that a building complex of spectacular proportions would energize a struggling area of the city. More than 70 years later, Radio City's annual nine-week Christmas Spectacular starring the Rockettes-which has sold out every year since it began in 1933-draws over one million people. Even for those who don't make it to a show, the theater's sweeping external Art Deco design (restored in 1999) is still a sight to behold.

The Shopping District   Fifty-Seventh Street commences one of the world's greatest shopping districts, where pop culture meets high culture in a showcase of style and taste. From Hermés and Armani to Kenzo and Prada, from Bergdorf Goodman to Ermengildo Zegna, one need not go far from the Buckingham Hotel to find the best the world has to offer. Our Concierge can arrange exclusive appointments for private shoppers at the best beauty salons and day spas.

MOMA   Perhaps the greatest museum in the world devoted to contemporary art, MOMA showcases painting, sculpture, photography and design. Presently in the midst of a fantastic renovation and expansion, the museum is temporarily showing its collection at MOMA Queens. Easy shuttles leave from the museum location on 53rd Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, just 4 minutes from the Buckingham Hotel.

Dahesh Museum of Art    The only institution in the United States devoted to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting works by Europe's academically trained artists of the 19th and early 20th centuries, the Dahesh Museum routinely features work from some of Europe's most influential masters. Every day the Museum welcomes visitors for exhibitions organized at home and abroad, redisplays of the permanent collection, educational activities, rental events, and fine dining and shopping.  Click Here for more information about how to visit.

Museum of Arts and Design and Museum of American Folk Art   These two new museums next to one another on 53rd Street offer unique perspectives on American culture with high quality shows and deep collections that will surprise and impress you. They make 53rd Street an art destination in itself!

Museum of Television and Radio   The Museum of Television and Radio on 52nd Street is unique and well worth a visit. It has a collection of more than 100,000 TV and radio archive programs for visitors to view and listen to—from news, drama, public affairs, and documentaries to the performing arts, children's programming, sports, comedy, and advertising. Watch your favorite long-gone series, or view an important news cast. Attend seminars with prominent journalists, politicians and others in the role of the press in our society. Something is always going on at the MTR.

Rockefeller Center   Just a few blocks from the Buckingham on Sixth Avenue, the world-famous "Rock Center" houses NBC Studios, Radio City Music Hall, a fabulous landscaped plaza unique in the world, and a sunken skating rink which in summer transforms into a plant-filled garden of delicious and romantic al fresco dining, all surrounded by world-class shops. Rockefeller Center is one of the world's finest examples of Art Deco architecture and urban planning and should not be missed (tip: each building houses a surprise in its lobby; visit all to find them).

Theater District   The Great White Way, the most fantastic collection of theaters in the world, is home to great musicals like Aida and The Producers alongside world-class contemporary drama. Every night offers dozens of top-flight choices. Don't think of visiting New York without a night at the theater; in fact, make it two! And it is all a casual stroll from your home away from home in Manhattan—the Buckingham Hotel.

Galleries   From Pace-McGill's photography to Findlay's Impressionists, 57th Street's Galleries draw art lovers and collectors from all over the world.

World-famous choices like the Manhattan Ocean Club, Alain Ducasse and San Domenico as well as fabulous finds like Molyvos, Aquavit and Oceana and even New York's absolute best pizza and bagels—these are all just steps from your door.
